JiVE Dala Your Colour

JiVE is the Western Cape’s most colourful soda. To launch their summer campaign - #DalaYourColour (show your colour with pride), we were briefed to do something drastic. The brand wanted to paint a section of the renowned Bo-Kaap neighbourhood white. Known for its iconic, vibrant colour, this was like asking the community to sacrifice its identity. It was a project more ambitious than simply organising a few tins of white paint and a team of willing workers. It meant getting permission from the community and convincing them that the project was a celebration of their neighbourhood and designed to change the social media narrative from a tourist-driven, outsider’s perspective to putting the spotlight on the people who call the Bo-Kaap home and their individual stories. It meant we needed to immerse ourselves in the community – which we did. Personally spending time with key opinion leaders and the owners of the houses we wanted to paint. We did tea, we ate samosas and koeksisters and shared baked goods of our own. After days of chats and snacks, we finally got the go ahead. The result? A campaign that proves that Duchess can make any idea happen – no matter how ambitious.
